The Jimmy Fund

Last year marked the seventh anniversary of Jiffy Lube International's support of the Jimmy Fund, widely regarded as "New England's favorite charity."

Last fall to raise money for this worthy cause, more than 100 Jiffy Lube service centers throughout New England plus Long Island, New York, offered their customers a $2 Value Card, which offered $5 off their next four Jiffy Lube Signature Service® oil changes and $1 off on a combo meal at Taco Bell. With the customer's $2 contribution, all money raised was contributed to the Jimmy Fund to benefit the cancer research and treatment at the world-renowned Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.

Jiffy Lube raised more than $141,000 for the Jimmy Fund in 2003, which brought the company's cumulative seven-year contribution to well more than $1 million.

Much of the work done at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is made possible by generous supporters of the Jimmy Fund, a principal fundraising arm of Dana-Farber. Founded 55 years ago by the Variety Club of New England, in conjunction with the Boston Braves baseball club, the Jimmy Fund was named for one of Dr. Sidney Farber's patients, a 12-year-old boy dubbed "Jimmy" to protect his anonymity. The charity has become a leader in the fight against cancer in both children and adults.

As a traditional kick-off for the program, several Jiffy Lube® service centers held lube-a-thons contributing $10 for every car serviced to the Jimmy Fund.

In another regular part of the fundraising campaign each year, Jimmy Fund patient partners acted as program ambassadors to help motivate the public to support the program.

Jiffy Lube® looks forward to another highly successful fundraising effort later this year!
