There's an extra measure of purpose to the support that Hoffman Development Corporation, a Jiffy Lube franchisee based in Albany, New York, provides the New York Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Tom Hoffman Jr., president of the company, and several other employees, have the ailment.

As it has the last two years, the company will assist the organization in raising funds through the following activities this year:

• Title sponsor of the organization's annual golf tournament in May
• Field a team of more than 50 employees and family members with customers pledging support for the participation at an annual Walk-A-Thon in September
• Donate funds at its annual Celestial Ball in December.

The franchise company continues to support other local non-profit organizations but its primary involvement is with the JDRF. It owns and operates 11 Jiffy Lube service centers in the Albany/Capital Region.
