Community Involvement
Georgia/South Carolina

Jiffy Lube is proud to be a proper steward of the environment. This is vividly showcased by the community work that the Jiffy Management Co. does in the Savannah, Georgia, and Hilton Head, South Carolina areas.

To help raise awareness of the need to conserve natural resources, the company has been a major sponsor for the last five years of Earth Day activities in Savannah. The company helps organize more than 80 exhibitors, entertainment and family activities for the event that attracts some 8,000 attendees annually. In association with the Savannah Emergency Planning Committee, Jiffy Lube also collects used motor oil, car batteries and household paint at the event and arranges for it all to be transported for recycling.

The company operates a booth at the event that explains its commitment to the environment. Each Jiffy Lube service center responsibly disposes all oil drained from the vehicles it services. Many service centers, including all seven owned by Jiffy Management, are designated as municipal collection centers that also accept used motor oil from the public. Each year, Jiffy Lube sends millions of gallons of used oil to state-approved recycling centers for use in non-automotive consumer and industrial products.

The company has also supported Second Harvest in Hilton Head, South Carolina, by conducting canned food drives at its service centers.

As the popular song goes, there are many reasons to have Georgia on one's mind. As true service heroes in their communities, the employees of Saffire, Inc., and AFML, Inc., the Jiffy Lube franchisee in the Central Savannah River Area, have supporting nonprofit organizations on their minds a lot as well.

The company, which runs 11 Jiffy Lube service centers in the area, is a major supporter of the Augusta Service Center of the Muscular Dystrophy Association®. The company is an annual sponsor of the organization's golf tournament and helps run its annual telethon. It donated $10,000 to the organization in 2000.

The local Shriner's chapter benefits from the work of Jiffy Lube as well. Approximately $8,500 was raised last year through customer donations at stores and sales of parking spaces at the Masters golf tournament.

Saffire, Inc. and AFML, Inc., also supports the Golden Apples Awards for Teachers in Augusta. The program salutes outstanding faculty members of the Central Savannah River Area Board of Education.
